Provo Grab Bag

Seth and I have started walking again at night, now that the weather is cool (I love Fall!). As usual, we are discovering strange and wonderful things that come out at night in Provo.

1)  Deer—We have seen a few deer within the past week. Last night there was a doe in the street in front of our house around 12:30 AM. As we approached, she took off jump-running toward our complex; a moment later, she reappeared, running toward the church across the street; and then she turned around again and ran off toward the park. Poor little (giant) confused animal. Where do these things live? How do they get this far into Provo on a regular basis?

2)  Helicopter—Last week, there was a helicopter parked in the church parking lot across the street. We examined it our our way out to walk; on our way home, we discovered two cop cars guarding it. We sat on the benches in the little yard of our complex and watched until a tow truck unsuccessfully tried to take it away. The chopper was still there the following morning. How in the world did it get there? Who thought, "I can park my helicopter here. No problemo!"

Provo is full of mysteries.

We bought Apollo a new cat bed, which he loves to both sleep and play in. He drags a toy inside and rolls around in the cube like a kitten zorb, and he frequently ends up upside down, sideways, or backwards.

Here he is in his cube bed on it's back after a good toy tussle. One time I'll try to get video of him rolling around in it. Crazy cat!

His new hiding place, plus a few good wallops with a pillow, has made him much more obedient at night. Instead of waking us up by scratching the bookcase, he sleeps curled up next to me almost all night long. With his little cat head nestled in my arm like a pillow. It's pretty adorable.

I like Apollo's new bed. It sort of reminds me of those fancy tissue-box covers, you know?

Also, deer are in the mountains all over the place. The deer you keep seeing are probably from my (former) neck of the metaphorical woods.

And when you said walk at night, I was thinking six or seven o'clock. Not midnight! Go to bed, kids. ;)

Apollo!!! He is such a cutie. Maybe Persie could use a good cat bed. I love night walks. Just hearing about them makes me want to force Johnny to go on one.
