Rearranging

Our bedroom is very narrow, and our bed takes up the entire space with just a few inches to spare. When we built the bed, it seemed like a bright idea to have the headboard against the back wall.

This makes it very hard to get in and out of bed, since we have to climb over the footboard. We have been meaning to change it around for a while, but it's difficult to get the motivation to pull our giant mattress of the bed, take the bed apart, and assemble it again.

On Saturday night, around midnight, I decided that I had had enough. We stuffed the layers of the mattress into our little hallway and began the arduous process.

Here it is, half re-assembled, with the headboard on the side wall.

In the process of replacing the mattress onto this lovely frame, we discovered that we had placed the layers of our fluffy four-layer memory foam mattress in the WRONG ORDER when we moved in. We thought the increase in hardness of the mattress was due to its resting on the slats of the new bed, but no. It was due to our stupidity.

The mistake was rectified, and our bed is heavenly soft once again. The change was SOOOO worth it.

I would love to give you an "after" picture, but I don't want to make my bed. But know that the battle of the bed was won, even if we didn't get to sleep until 2 am.
